Joe nor the Autobots could corroborate, Toaster and Blackcat went on a covert mission to Silent Castle in Trans-Carpathia, where they discovered that Decepticon leader Megatron had survived the crash landing of the Ark in the Canadian wilderness and entered into an intergalactic arms deal with ruthless terrorist organization Cobra and its leader, Cobra Commander.
Toaster's self-effacing nature and inconspicuous alt mode made him perfect for espionage, which is why Optimus Prime partnered him with Blackcat to form the Autobot Covert Surveillance Team.įollowing unsubstantiated rumors that neither G.I. Toaster did not appear in the "new" unfolding of events. Toaster used the awesome power of his seldom-seem "giant toaster" form to attack Galvatron, but was defeated. Toaster was among the vanquished foes at Galvatron's feet in this earlier iteration of the timeline.

In 1989, the time travelling Galvatron, caught in a series of time-loops and re-writes, remembered seeing himself triumphing 20-some years earlier while he was Mega tron. It is possible that his naked power was so awesome and impossible to contain that the Ark simply forced him back into hibernation after realizing the dervish of destruction he could become in his much-feared "giant toaster" alt mode. Toaster seemed to all but vanish after the Ark's awakening and went unseen for five years. It's unclear whether this was always Toaster's name (coincidental alignment among Transformer's pre-existing names and Earthly alternate modes is common) or if he changed his name to reflect his new Earthly alt mode. Cold Comfort and Joy!īlaster, while hosting the letters page of the UK comic, told an interested letter-writer that he had a brother named Toaster who transformed into a toaster and whom he liked first thing in the morning. He was given the alt mode of a human bread-searing machine, colloquially known as a toaster. Toaster was among the Transformers rebuilt by the Ark when it awoke on Earth in 1984.
